What Are The Suboxone Clinic Services Starting Point Clinic Offer?

An initial evaluation is the first step in your treatment at the Starting Point Clinic’s Suboxone Clinic. It is recommended that patients stop taking opiates between 12-24 hours and visit the clinic. This is when patients will experience mild withdrawal symptoms.

Buprenorphine, a partial opioid antagonist that both blocks and stimulates opioid receptors, can cause mild withdrawal symptoms in opioid-using patients. These symptoms can usually be treated with medication as an outpatient. The Suboxone clinic will monitor your progress and work closely with you to reduce your opioid use until you feel free from cravings or any other side effects.

Starting Point Clinic in Baltimore, MD may be the right choice for you if you are looking to get rid of the opioid addiction.

What Is Suboxone?

Suboxone, a combination of buprenorphine/naloxone, is prescribed to people suffering from opiate abuse. Suboxone maintenance treatment or another buprenorphine form significantly reduces cravings, withdrawal symptoms and overdoses.

The Starting Point Clinic’s medication assisted treatment (MAT), which includes Suboxone, regular monitoring and therapy, is based on Suboxone, regular supervision, and therapy.

How Does Suboxone Work?

Suboxone includes two drugs that reduce dependence on opioids such as heroin and morphine.

Buprenorphine helps reduce your dependence on opioids as well as your cravings. Buprenorphine, an opioid partial antagonist, reduces withdrawal symptoms and helps you manage your cravings. It also prevents euphoria when a buprenorphine user takes an illicit opiate.

Naloxone blocks opioid receptors. It is mixed with the buprenorphine found in Suboxone to decrease the risk of overdose or misuse if Suboxone is injected.

How Suboxone helps to prevent withdrawal from opioids:

Suboxone is a medication that prevents withdrawal from opiates. This syndrome causes severe physical discomfort and is why many people give up on their attempts to overcome their addiction.

The first 24 hours following stopping opiate use are when withdrawal symptoms begin.

  • Muscle pain
  • Restlessness
  • Anxiety
  • Runny nose
  • Excessive sweating
  • Inability to fall asleep
  • Frequent yawning

The symptoms that occur after the first day without opiates are more severe and include.

  • Diarrhea
  • Abdominal cramping and nausea with vomiting
  • Dilated pupils
  • Brilliance in vision
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Elevated blood pressure

What Doctors Can Prescribe Suboxone?

The 2000 DATA (Drug Addiction Treatment Act), Suboxone can only be obtained from qualified doctors who have a buprenorphine exemption from SAMHSA. Starting Point Clinic has a buprenorphine waiver. Our Suboxone clinic offers a comprehensive program for managed withdrawal from opioids, and subsequent treatment using Suboxone to avoid withdrawal symptoms, cravings, and relapse. Suboxone clinic can also arrange counseling sessions or coordinate your participation in social support programs.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and Compassionate Support

Our patients who seek counseling and 12-step (or not 12-step) support groups, as well as seeking spiritual guidance and medication-assisted treatment are more likely to live happy and fulfilled lives.

Is Suboxone safe?

Suboxone has been approved by the FDA to treat opiate addiction. Solar Health’s experienced healthcare team believes that Suboxone is safe when taken as directed and used in a responsible manner. Side effects are possible, as is the case for all drugs, even those as common as antibiotics. The drug may be misused and cause serious health problems. The team at Starting Point Clinic will closely monitor your progress and assess your physical health if you decide to use Suboxone. I wouldn't recommend this clinic. Yeah, they medicate you, but the nursing dept is VERY unprofessional and bad at the... job. They basically act their "wage." They also talk about the patients. Oh and DON'T expect the DIRECTOR to help you or call you back. He hides in his office. He seems to be on a "conference call" every hour of everyday. Please RUN away from this place. They never want to accept the mistakes they make. I only gave this rat hole one star because there's no option for zero more

The staff there are great for the most part. I would definitely recommend this place. They take state insurance,... regular insurance, and even cash. If you get a counselor you don't like, then you can ask for a different person. They will work with you to help you get clean, and they wont over prescribe methadone. The only thing that bothers me is they're a little too more

I have been at Starting Point for 6+ years. I'm not going to say everything has been peaches and creme since I been... here but, I will say my issues have been addressed wether I agree with the final outcome or not they were addressed! I have the most amazing, patient, kind, sympathetic counselor. Sarah always gives me the most honest feedback. My recovery has been going good and I have maintained sobriety since I been here. Nursing is the center of it all because, without the nurses showing up for work everyday we wouldn't get medicated. The nurses are so personable and work very hard at providing our medication every day. I guess we all take the nurses for granted but truth be told we need to be more grateful to them!!!read more

They are very unprofessional and expect to much. They are worried bout paperwork and not saving lives. When evidently... the person in a clinic before was approved before but they still give you the run around. You go here lie about your medical issues because they will make you travel for paperwork. I would recommend that you find something else convenientread more

So this clinic is the best I have been to and they do care and want to help but will only go as far as you go and... that's how it should be remember only you can change if you want to and you can if you want it bad enough. And do not settle cause you are assigned that counslor if you don't feel comfortable with that counselor ask for another or one you think will work cause being able to talk to some one is a HUGE part of your mission (treatment) so for new people I would recommend this facility for sure just make sure you come ready to be clean and not play gamesread more
